Looking for Paradise? Here it is at the El Matador! Has to be the most sought of family vacation resort on the Emerald Coast. A secluded condominium nestled between the beautiful white sand dunes and the sparkling Emerald Waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

El Matador is truly a beach resort. Just two miles down Santa Rosa Blvd at the end of the Island you will find us – secluded but still just a few minutes to all the amenities that Destin and Fort Walton Beach have to offer. Just six miles down Hwy. 98 you can enjoy Destin – “ The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” – charter a private trip or take the kids out on a group boat and catch dinner. While in Destin enjoy fine restaurants, shopping, and golfing on some of the best golf courses in the Panhandle of Florida. Hard to believe that you might need a day off from the beach but if you do take the family to Big Kahunas Water Park in the center of old Destin. Much more than just a water park… it’s a day of fun!

Back at the El Matador enjoy the large grass areas between our buildings just right for family fun and games. With two pools, his and her whirlpool, and saunas just right for your tired muscles after a game of tennis on one of our courts, or in our fitness center. We are located at the end of Okaloosa Island a small barrier Island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. This gated community with thirteen miles of undeveloped beaches to the west is sure to have you longing to return.

  The condo was exactly as described and pictured. It was super clean and the kitchen fully stocked with everything needed except groceries. The views were amazing and both pools were close to building. The property is gated with a security officer which adds an extra layer of safety that’s appreciated when in a new place. Super close to restaurants and shops. The only issue we had was the AC temp didn’t get below 74 the whole time we were there even though we had it set lower. Overall, everything was great!

  Enjoyed the time only feedback would be the floors where every dirty so wear shoes at all times.
  If you don’t wash the dishes there’s a fee they will charge. When you book you have a $200 cleaning fee so I feel like if they want you to wash the dishes they need to supply some dish soap and a sponge

    Rebecca, sorry you did not call about floors- would have sent a cleaner to condo immediately to clean the floors. $200 is a deposit to secure condo, cleaning fee, $100 to clean whole condo and dishes can always be washed in. dishwasher.   From 09/08/18 thru 09/22/18 we stayed in #140 at El Matador. We have been coming here since 1989 and this is unit is one of the nicest. The only fault was could find with this unit was the livingroom furniture, everything else has been completed undated, beach service was also included, we would stay in this unit again.   When we arrived, our unit had not yet been cleaned from the previous guests. We did get early check-in, though, so can’t hold that against them. The stay was great for the price, but our bed was so uncomfortable my husband and I slept on the couches...the wicker (dated) couches. The unit had recently had a kitchen remodel which was nice, but everything would benefit to follow suit. Again, for the price, not a bad unit and management was more than accommodating.

The kids liked the pool, but we hung out more at the beach. The staff at the condo was extremely helpful & friendly. With being the last complex at the end of the street, things were very quiet.     beautiful condo that has had bathrooms upgraded and floors and painted, and all new windows and doors, for your stay. This is a corner unit and larger then the others, that anyone would love to have, because of the great views from the balcony, and views of the grounds. This condo 140 is a very comfortable unit, and you will enjoy your stay there.

  Unit was dated however the owners are updating each year. Last year they replaced all windows with hurricane grade. This year they upgraded both bathrooms. Next year they plan to upgrade the kitchen. We hope to see new mattresses in the small bedroom and new hide-a-bed in the living room. Sink in the cushions too much. We like the location on the end of the building. Nice and bright during the day.

  We were very happy to find a place on short notice and the price was very reasonable. The location of the property was great for us. The beach is gorgeous and the swimming pools are very nice. The grounds are very well maintained. The buildings are freshly painted. The grounds are gated and secure. Our unit #140 was very comfortable. However, although it was clean the fact it was so outdated made it feel dirty. If it were to be updated and the carpeting in the bedrooms replaced it would have a newer and cleaner feel. Also there is a security light right outside the 2nd bedroom window. The blinds/shades in that bedroom are not the type to keep out that bright of a light so our aunt had a very hard time sleeping. Replacing the blinds in both bedrooms or adding room darkening curtains would be a great help. There is a sliver of a view of the gulf but we enjoyed the balcony. All in all it was a great stay and we would stay again and recommend to others.

  The El Matador unit #140 was not a bad stay. The unit is dated, however it was clean. The view of the beach in minimal. The walk to the beach was not bad (about 200+ yards). The unit is on the fourth floor. It is located at one of the ends of the building. Being the end unit, it is the furthermost unit from the elevator. For this reason we found it easier to walk 4 flights of stairs rather than walk to the elevator. It is a place to stay if you need a plain condo unit. It is not for a person who is looking for luxury. The location of El Matador was good for us. It offers beach privacy.

  We've stayed at El Matador 2times before in the past 6years. This time we used VRBO and the rental agency was Alicia Hollis,an agency a friend's used for 20 years. All wad handled perfectly. Easy check in and out. The unit 140 was clean and well equipped. We lacked a mixer though..beaters in drawer with no mixer. Had to Boris one. The master bedroom bed was extremely comfortable. Our second bedroom wad perfect for our son with 2 twin beds. We live all the amenities at El Matador...2 pools,tennis chourts, basketball goal, sand volleyball, grills, sauna, whirlpool, and fitness room. We just live El 's at the end of the island and to the west there is nothing but white beach for walking.

  My husband, the kids, and I were very happy with our stay overall. The location was extremely nice, the condo was clean and well layed out, and access to two pools was very convenient. We were glad to see the 24 hour security personnel. The main complaints we had were the condo appliances were not functioning as well as we would have liked. The microwave did not cook food evenly, and the toaster did not work at all. The batteries in the thermostat ran down and had to be replaced after the temp was extremely high after we had returned from the beach. The TV in the master bedroom would run for thirty minutes or so and would then turn itself off. The washer on our floor was not working, so we were forced to use one on a different floor. This scenario was not the most convenient means with our children being left in the room. They are 18, 16, and 12, but we would have preferred being down the breezeway from them as opposed to doing laundry on a different floor. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would be interested in renting a unit from El Matador again.
