Looking for Paradise? Here it is at the El Matador! Has to be the most sought of family vacation resort on the Emerald Coast. A secluded condominium nestled between the beautiful white sand dunes and the sparkling Emerald Waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

El Matador is truly a beach resort. Just two miles down Santa Rosa Blvd at the end of the Island you will find us – secluded but still just a few minutes to all the amenities that Destin and Fort Walton Beach have to offer. Just six miles down Hwy. 98 you can enjoy Destin – “ The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” – charter a private trip or take the kids out on a group boat and catch dinner. While in Destin enjoy fine restaurants, shopping, and golfing on some of the best golf courses in the Panhandle of Florida. Hard to believe that you might need a day off from the beach but if you do take the family to Big Kahunas Water Park in the center of old Destin. Much more than just a water park… it’s a day of fun!

Back at the El Matador enjoy the large grass areas between our buildings just right for family fun and games. With two pools, his and her whirlpool, and saunas just right for your tired muscles after a game of tennis on one of our courts, or in our fitness center. We are located at the end of Okaloosa Island a small barrier Island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. This gated community with thirteen miles of undeveloped beaches to the west is sure to have you longing to return.

  Condo location is the seller on this unit...first floor, back door looks out into the courtyard and 100 yards to beach access. Kitchen was redone, great finishes for rental. However, the remainder of the unit is stuck in the 80s and some of the dust probably came from there as well. The renovations stopped at the kitchen counter with no further improvements attempted. Electrical was sketchy as you have to unplug light from one plug and move to upper plug in same outlet to work. Things that don't make send and question safety to be honest. It was "clean" however old paint, outlets, trim, and fixes on bed made it not feel up to date. Dust on ceiling air vent just looks bad, even if not an issue to overall function.

  We enjoyed our stay. However, the property was very outdated and in need of an upgrade. The patio door would not slide very well, the 2 twin beds squeaked very loudly every time you rolled over, the bathrooms were very outdated and the tub wouldn't drain well. Overall we had a good stay but would probably not stay in this particular unit again. My brother was visiting at the same time and stayed at El Matador as well. His unit was in building 4 and was much nicer than ours and had recently been upgraded. He paid the same price as we did. I would definitely stay at El Matador again but not this particular unit.

  Location was very good, but expected more for the price we paid. Others in our group paid same price for more modern condo. Master bath had excessive mold on shower curtain. Sliding door difficult to open. Toilet in master would run unless you giggled handle. Appliances and decor outdated. Found trash ( lollipop sticks, paper ) under master bed. All vents had black dust collected on ceiling. 3

  This is the second year we have stayed at El Matador and this year we brought another family.We had a wonderful experience and love the friendly staff and family environment at El Matador. The property was clean and well kept. The only thing that was missing was a working iron and ironing board-otherwise it had everything my family needed. Our family loves the boardwalk and all the restaurants. Our family has a wide range of ages and the boardwalk offers something for everyone. Rockin Tacos is our favorite restaurant. Our absolute favorite activity is looking for ghost crabs in the evenings on the beach! We love the Island and will be back again next year!

  Condo was clean and in good condition considering it appeared to be an original unit with many original fixtures. No key was provided for sauna/spa use. Convenient location with ample parking and excellent gatehouse staff. Definitely consider El Matador again perhaps on higher floor w/view.

  We had a wonderful time. The location is excellent. The only complaint that we had was that there was no overhead light in one of the bedrooms and all of the electrical outlets did not work. The property itself was very clean and we enjoyed our stay.
